Proudly supported again by Silver Key Developments, the Burhill Pro-Am is one of the highlights in The PGA in England (South)’s schedule, and with a £25,000 minimum prize fund, it’s filling up fast, writes Charles DeHaan.
As PGA South Regional Manager, Sam Smith, put it: “With the individual winner walking away with at least £10,000, it’s an unmissable opportunity, but as a Pro-Am that’s played at one of Surrey’s finest venues, plus the shoot out for £5,000, it’s going to be one of the highlights of our schedule for 2019.”
Hosted on Friday 28th June at the majestic Burhill Golf Club’s New Course, the Pro-Am welcomes teams of men and ladies comprising one PGA Professional and three amateurs. A shotgun start at 11am kicks off the 18 hole event and the entry fees are £600 per team for three guests.
Following the Pro-Am and some cocktails, every PGA Professional will then take part in this event’s showpiece: a Nearest The Pin Shootout at the 18th. With each player allowed just the one attempt from the 18th tee to the 18th green, the closest to the pin will go home with the cash bonus. There will also be a magnificent prize table for the winning team and amateur.
After all the excitement of the shootout, there’s the famous Burhill barbecue to enjoy, and the prize giving to present the winning Professional with the biggest cheque of the year in the PGA South.
