We asked ten PGA Professionals to pick their top pick for the USPGA Championship at Bethpage State Park.
Following the Masters like many Tiger Woods will be very much a favourite to clinch the second Major of the year. It was brilliant to see him back and exciting for the game of Golf. However my tip for next week’s USPGA is Xander Schauffele who continues to improve and who came so close to winning last month’s Masters. He’s currently in great form. He’s worth a flutter at 25/1.
Tiger Woods. Why? Because he is the GOAT (greatest of all time) and he is back!
My tip for The USGA championship is Brooks Koepka. Having won the US Open and the USPA I believe he has the skills to win more major championships.
I think the winner of the US PGA will be Rickie Fowler. Why? Seven of the last eight PGA Champions have been first-time major winners. Dating back to 2009, Rory McIlroy (2014) is the only player who had already won a major to win the PGA Championship. My guess is that the luck of the first-time winners will continue. Fowler has finished in the top 10 on eight occasions in the majors. It just feels like a major is right around the corner for Fowler. They’re not easy to win by any stretch, but he’s too good not to have one. After his win early this season, we already know his game is in good form and I think this is the year he breaks trough to win his first major.
I’m going for Jordan Spieth. He’s been pretty consistent since The Masters and his playing record in the PGA is also good, he will comeback and Beth Page Black is just the place. I taught out there a few years back at the Barclays and what a course.
