The tournaments that will determine whether Jamie Brittain wins the PGA Midlands Trainee Order of Merit for the second year running will run in tandem with the newly-created Order of Merit for the region’s senior members.
The Trainee Order of Merit will be determined by performances in a series of five monthly tournaments beginning at Hawkstone Park, Shropshire (above), on April 2.
That will be an 18-hole strokeplay event as will the next three at Coventry Golf Club on May 20, Harborne Golf Club, Birmingham, on the June 25, and Stoke Rochford Golf Club, Grantham, Lincolnshire, on July 28.
The final one in the series, by contrast, will also be contested over 36-holes at Walsall Golf Club, West Midlands, on August 17.
“All players completing their rounds in Order of Merit Tournaments will receive points,” said regional manager James Brown.
“The 2020 Trainee Order of Merit standings will be determined by the accumulation of the best finishes in all Trainee Order of Merit tournaments by each player.
“Jamie Brittain achieved a unique double last year by winning both regional Order of Merits – it will be fascinating to see if he can repeat the feat this summer.”
