In the following article we take a quick look at our International Members who moved roles in recent months and where they have headed to.

Wayne Johnson has returned to Dubai to take charge of the re-launch and development of the MENA Tour. The MENA Tour is the leading professional and amateur golf tour based in the Middle East, created under the auspices of the Sheikh Maktoum Golf Foundation to develop and grow the game in the Middle East and North Africa region. In 2016, the Tour became an “Official Tour”, sanctioned by the International Golf Federation and receiving Official World Golf Ranking and World Amateur ranking Status.

Johnson had previously spent 3 years in Hanoi, Vietnam and Desaru, Malaysia as Director of Operations for the Els Performance Golf Academies, where he was involved in setting up some of the finest teaching and practice facilities in SE Asia, and started the Little Easy Junior Athlete program, which is growing the game significantly to the young generation of golfers in these regions.

Ignacio Isern has recently started his new role as Head PGA Golf Professional at Ba Na Hills Golf Club in Da Nang, Vietnam. This impressive course and facility was the first course to be designed by Luke Donald, and is managed by IMG. It was awarded World’s Best New Golf Course at the 2016 World Golf Awards. Ignacio was previously based in his home country, Spain.

Commenting on his move, Nair said “My decision to move to Canada and join a strong brand like GolfTec was to be able to broaden my coaching knowledge and teaching skills, which would help take my career to the next level. GolfTec is known to be the world leader in Golf instruction, with over one million lessons taught each year in over 200 centres across 6 countries. It is the largest employer of PGA professionals with over 600 coaches, where every coach undertakes training at GolfTec University in Denver, Colorado, making GolfTec coaches amongst the best trained in the world.”
