The PGA’s Christmas Sport & Comedy Lunch returns to London’s Grosvenor House this December for another afternoon of entertainment with the 2020 European Ryder Cup team captain Padraig Harrington, the hilarious stand up comedian Jimmy McGhie and our host for the afternoon, the broadcaster and BBC golf correspondent, Iain Carter.
The 2020 European Ryder Cup team captain Padraig Harrington will be our guest of honour this year as he looks ahead to his next battle with the USA at Wisconsin in 2020. A three-time major champion, Padraig is one of the world’s top golfers with a Ryder Cup record that speaks for itself. He’s played in six Ryder Cups, four times as a winner having played a total of 25 matches.
The hilarious Jimmy McGhie has performed stand-up and solo shows all over the world at festivals including the Edinburgh Fringe, Melbourne International Comedy Festival, Sydney Comedy Festival and the New Zealand International Comedy Festival.
Host for the afternoon is broadcaster, commentator and author, Iain Carter. Iain is a regular and popular voice on BBC Radio 5Live and Radio Scotland providing live coverage of tournaments including The Open, Masters, US Open, US PGA and the Ryder Cup. He is the co-host of the popular podcast The Cut and his blogs on the BBC Sport website are among the most read articles in golf reporting worldwide.

The PGA lunch will be returning to The Midland Hotel this December for another afternoon of unforgettable entertainment with one of England’s greatest ever rugby players, Will Greenwood, the hilarious comedian Alfie Moore and host Andrew Cotter. Will Greenwood is one of England’s greatest ever rugby players with a professional career that spanned 11 years with 55 international caps. The second highest international try scoring centre of all time, he was an integral part of England’s victorious World Cup campaign of 2003, a character and leader in one of the most successful team dynamics seen in recent times.
The brilliant Alfie Moore is an original and distinctive comedian with his niche area as a serving police sergeant. He brings a wealth of insights and comedy moments from his eighteen years on the beat, where a keen sense of humour has been the key to his success and survival!
Returning as host for the afternoon is Andrew Cotter, one of the most recognisable voices in sports broadcasting. The PGA’s Christmas Sport & Comedy Lunch returns to Glasgow’s Hilton Hotel this December for another afternoon of entertainment with one of the greatest golfers of all time, Sandy Lyle, the hilarious stand up comedian Sean Collins and our host for the afternoon, the broadcaster and BBC golf correspondent, Iain Carter.
Sandy Lyle was one of the key players responsible for the resurgence of European Golf in the 1980s. With two majors to his name, he won both The Open in 1985 and The Masters in 1988. He was instrumental in 2 Ryder Cup Wins, including Europe’s first victory on American soil in 1987 and played in 5 in total.
The brilliant Sean Collins is a hilarious Canadian stand-up comedian with a natural ability to engage a crowd and make them laugh with extraordinary tight routines. With 25 years’ experience in stand-up comedy, since moving to the UK and being introduced to UK audiences on the Michael McIntyre Comedy Roadshow, his act has shown no signs of slowing down.
