Social media video workshop returns

 

Following the success of the first social media video workshop earlier this year, former ITV and BBC news presenter Anna Brees is returning to The Belfry in October to put on two more workshops aimed at beginners and more advanced users on social media.

Course Introduction: Anna Brees: “Mobile phones are in your hand, and magic TV moments come and go – use your mobile to capture those moments and engage your audience.” To communicate with their audiences, organisations and individuals are realising that video is essential in getting their message across. The problem in the past has been it’s taken too much time and has cost too much money. Not anymore…
Course Content: In this one-day intensive course former ITV and BBC reporter Anna Brees will teach you how to create engaging TV and social media videos using your smartphone device. If you run your golf facility’s social media channel (or your own) or host an established YouTube channel (or want to) this practical course will help you improve and enhance your video offering. Anna will take you through the traditional television models such as the news package, interview soundbite, vox pop and live interview – with the focus on helping attendees choose the best video vehicle for their message. She believes great content, and storytelling via well-crafted video will get organic share and your message out to the people who you want to hear it. You will learn how to film, edit, report, add subtitles, music, sound effects, graphics, music and voiceover to video for both short-form videos for the newsfeed (Twitter/Facebook/Instagram) and long-form videos for other platforms like YouTube and Vimeo.
Course Objectives: By the end of this workshop, participants will know:

• What video works well on the TV and what works well on a device

• Ideal durations of videos for each platform

• Equipment needed to get that professional look

• Lighting, framing and audio

• How to add subtitles, voice over and music

• Layering your videos with photos, video or your logo

• Basic interviewing and presenting techniques • importance of storytelling

• Apps that allow you to do time-lapse, screen record and autocue

Required equipment: Pen, paper and fully charged smart phone device with charger and headphones. Attendees need to bring their own mobile phone with the following apps installed: • KineMaster • BIGVU • Hyperlapse which is an iPhone app, or Microsoft Hyperlapse which is an android app

Course Content: In this one-day level 2 intensive course, former ITV and BBC reporter Anna Brees will teach you how to create engaging TV and social media videos using your smartphone device. This course will build upon what you have learned on the level 1 course by focusing on the growing importance of Facebook and Instagram and how to get noticed with video. You will also learn what makes a great video and how to achieve it, together with developing your presenting skills. You will learn about copyright and media law, what you are allowed to film and what you are allowed to say; the difference between organic and paid share – and when to use it; and learn about additional editing and filming apps.
Course Objectives: By the end of this workshop, participants will know:

• The importance of pulling the audience in with a story

• The growing importance of Facebook and Instagram and how to get noticed with video

• Copyright and media law, what you are allowed to film and what you are allowed to say

• The right equipment for the job

• The difference between organic and paid share – and when to use it

• Writing to pictures – and that all important top shot

• What makes a great video and how to achieve it

• How to learn from your analytics • Additional editing and filming apps

• How to write and voice a great script

• Presenting skills
