Entries for the 2019 Staysure PGA Trophy have more than doubled on last year’s figure with over 200 clubs signed up for the tournament.
The Staysure PGA Trophy is open to all PGA Professionals of any age and their amateur partner who must be over the age of 50.
Seven regional qualifiers, played across Great Britain and Ireland, will determine the pairs taking part in the Grand Final from July 30-31 at the London Golf Club near Sevenoaks, Kent.
This year’s tournament carries a £30,000 prize fund with the winner taking home £7,500.
Benton Hall were the 200th club to enter the tournament in 2019 and PGA Professional Lee Cocker is determined to reach the Grand Final after his near miss experience in the National Pro-Am competition.
He said: “I’ve played in the Lombard Trophy for years and I enjoy that event and would imagine this to be similar. After coming close a couple of years ago in the Lombard Trophy (second on count back at the Regional Final at Walton Heath) for a place in Portugal, I’m very determined to try and go one step better in this event.
“What made me enter was the chance to play with one of my senior members in a competitive environment. Our senior section here at Benton Hall is vibrant and very competitive so I know the competition will be well received & well supported.
“It will be great to represent a great club at national level. It’s something I’ve never experienced but would love to. I would encourage any club to enter an event like this. You can never underestimate how much it means to the members.”
Full details on how to enter can be found through the Staysure PGA Trophy online entry pack.
